Mysterious, enigmatic and defying intuition: when you venture into the world of the quantum, you often must leap beyond your own shadow. Particles that are also waves; probabilities instead of certainties; realities that only manifest through observation: the realm of the very small shatters our imagination, forms the basis for radical new technologies like quantum computers, and fascinates artists as well.
The ERES Foundation invites you with the exhibition “Seeing the Unseen” on an interdisciplinary journey into the quantum world. A hundred years after the pioneering work of Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg & co., the latest scientific insights meet contemporary art.

In the show, the themes of quantum physics are intertwined with psychedelic laser shows by Elsa Garmire, overlapped in Tamiko Thiel’s mixed-reality installation, unfold in expanding and contracting spaces by Mehmet & Kazim, or are reflected in Tan Mu’s painterly homage to the chandelier beauty of golden quantum computers.
With the excellence cluster Munich Center of Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST), the ERES Foundation has gained a cooperation partner who accompanies the project scientifically. An outstanding lecture program provides insights into one of the world’s leading epicenters of modern quantum physics — Munich.
Welcome to the parallel world of the wildest, smallest building blocks. Maybe you too will float on Cloud Q after visiting “Seeing the Unseen”.
Featuring: Dara Birnbaum, Herbert W. Franke, Elsa Garmire, Ayoung Kim, Alicja Kwade, Roman Lipski, Jonas Lund, Mehmet & Kazim, Tan Mu, Semiconductor, Thomas Struth, Paul Talman, Tamiko Thiel, Troika, Agustina Woodgate, among others.
